Since graduating from the University of Alberta in 2003 with her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Recreation, Mel has pursued her career in the health and fitness industry. Having been active and involved in a variety of sports growing up, physical activity is a huge part of her life and has played a large role in shaping who she is today. She has her black belt in Taekwondo; completed the 2007 Victoria Marathon; and has been doing much of her studying in recent years in the Yoga world and understands that everyone is unique in body, mind and spirit and therefore adapts her personal training style to each of her clients individually. With that said, having had many injuries over the years herself has provided a great learning ground for restorative and rehabilitative exercises and she loves nothing more than helping her clients heal their bodies and enjoy a greater quality of life. She believes strongly in the power of movement to reduce stress, increase energy and self-confidence, build strength, and overall improve health and loves sharing her knowledge with others. She is passionate about building community and that the power of the collective is so much greater than the individual, and is dedicated to inspiring wellness by creating connections, educating, and empowering.
